After a marathon session of 6 days, all the authors and the 195 governments who are part of the IPCC, approved the 43-page “summary for policymakers” (SPM) overview report line-by-line of this special report in Geneva.

 This special report published after the special report on 1.5C aims to provide an assessment on the issue of Land use on 7 chapters: 

Framing and Context, Land-Climate Interactions, Desertification, Land Degradation, Food Security, Interlinkages between desertification, land degradation, food security, and GHG fluxes: Synergies, trade-offs, and Integrated Response Options, Risk management and decision making in relation to sustainable development. 

The report addresses the issue of the food system greenhouse gas emissions since agricultural land expansion and production (on-farm) account for 16-27% of all human-related emissions. The summary shows that response options across the food system, from production to consumption can be deployed and ramped up for adaptation and lowering of emissions and highlights the multiple co-benefits for soil health, human health, and water quality.
